Love Chakras ~ Week 7 ~ Boundlessness
April 30, 2011 by admin
The 7th chakra is defined as boundlessness. It is represented by the colour violet and is physically located in the pineal gland. Scientific research shows that this gland is connected to our metabolism and our sleeping patterns. On a spiritual level, the 7th chakra is the seat of the soul. In Yogic science, the soul is the part of us that is undying and unborn. The soul lives on past the physical body and through space and time without limitation.
Each one of us must reconcile the finite of this world and the infinite possibilities of the world beyond. We may turn to drugs and other addictions to keep ourselves from the truth of how vast we are. The practice of Kundalini Yoga shows us how to be present to our potential and our human talent of boundlessness.
We will discuss more in class on Monday. See you very soon.
Love Chakras ~ Week 6 ~ Intuition
April 16, 2011 by admin
The 6th chakra is located at the brow point or third eye point. It is represented visually as indigo blue. This is the seat of intuition. The pituitary gland is located in the area of the brain behind the third eye point. As you have experienced, most exercises and meditations in Kundalini Yoga require focus at the brow point. To be honest, many of the sets and exercises are irritating, boring or create discomfort. In this way, Yoga helps you move past the body and into more insightful thoughts and feelings, into a more expanded version of yourself.
Disease is the body actualizing a message from the spirit. When disease is present, there is an imbalance in the mind or emotions. Intuition brings us healing clues from GOD (The Generating, Organizing and Delivering mechanism in the Universe). This is the inner voice. It is the voice providing a path where no other path existed before.
Home Play:
Listen to the quiet voice before making a decision. Take a moment, tune in and ask your higher self what the next best thing is. What to eat, wear, left or right, offer your Higher Self and opportunity to answer these questions. See what happens.
Yoga off the Mat:
Who would you be without confusion? Write it down. Become aware. And then do things differently.

Love Chakras ~ Week 4 ~ Compassion
April 2, 2011 by admin
The human talent of the heart chakra is compassion. It is remembering to love yourself and accept yourself on any given day and at any given moment. When the rhythm of your heart beats in harmony with another person they will be drawn to you. They sense genuineness of your words and the intent of your actions as being in their best interest. The best way to open from the heart centre is to develop an attitude of gratitude. Being thankful for the abundance in our lives helps us to see the world in a new way.
When the heart is closed, people have heart and lung disease, breast cancer and/or upper back pain. The shadow emotion of this chakra is fear and attachment. Worry is a low grade fear. Fear prevents love. When you acknowledge your fear, name it and let it go it cannot have power over you anymore.
Here is simple meditation to try: Meditation to Balance Head and Heart
Home Play:
To connect with your heart centre place your hand, one palm on heart when you are in conversation with someone, anyone. Notice the difference it makes to connect to the energy of this centre.
Yoga off the Mat:
Spend a few moments in the mirror and tell that person you love them. Promise to be kind and compassionate for the next seven days. Stick to it. Let us know what happens.
Love Chakras ~ Week 3 ~ Commitment
March 25, 2011 by admin
The human quality of commitment is associated with the third Chakra. When you commit all of your love relationships improve because the people in your life can count on you to be present. Kundalini yoga gives us the tools to be present in the moment. This is the root of commitment, being here now. When the third Chakra is working well you are energetic, organized, goal oriented and have a powerful projection. You don’t have to say much to make a big impact. When this Chakra is not working at optimum you are scattered and unfocussed and illness in the digestive area start to manifest.
The shadow emotion is anger. Anger stems from not being able to experience life in a way that is highest and best.
The Breath Work to address inner anger is Sitali Pranayam. Click here for a preview.
Home Play:
Think about your personal relationship to anger. What is the pay off, pay back and price for anger in your life?
Please be prepared to share so we can learn from each other.
Yoga off the Mat:
Use your breath. Every hour on the hour take 3 conscious deep breaths. Notice the difference in your mood, you experience of life and your interactions with others. Do this practice for 7 consecutive days.
Love Chakras ~ Week 2 ~ Creativity and Sexuality
March 18, 2011 by admin
The second chakra deals with merger with others. It is the shared part of life. It is linked to creativity, sexuality and money. When the second chakra is functioning well you are vibrant and colourful. When it is not functioning at optimum level, life is dull and listless. Disease starts to manifest in the body in the area of the kidneys, bladder, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, menstrual problems and infertility. The second chakra is signified by the colour orange and the element of water. This chakra is about creativity, sexuality and abundance in the form of money.
Our culture conveys disempowering messages about sexuality. It is a deeply embedded hurt that requires healing. We all share this discomfort about our sexual expression. It often manifests as shame, or guilt or control. On Monday we will release some of the discomfort in order to move forward.

Home Play:
Think about your personal relationship to sexuality, money and creativity. How are they connected for you? What does it take to be consciously connected to another person?
Please be prepared to share so we can learn from each other.
Yoga off the Mat:
Be in the flow. Drink lots of water, go to the bathroom, flush yourself out. Maybe it sounds too easy. Maybe easy is the only thing it needs to be.
Love Chakras ~ Week 1 ~ Acceptance
March 18, 2011 by admin
The Chakras are energy centres in the body that radiate the power and magnitude of our human experience. Your awareness of these energy centres will allow you to love deeply, completely and whole heartedly.
The book to compliment this series is called “The Eight Human Talents” by Gurmukh
The first chakra is located at the base of the spine and is responsible for elimination in the body. The first chakra is concerned with our habits, instincts, learning trust and practicing acceptance of all. Acceptance of all means accepting ourselves, other people and trusting that there is a grand plan, and that all is working according to divine plan. It means not waiting for the right occasion or behaviour from someone in order to offer love and support. It means being the first to offer light and hope.

The Monkey Mind is that part in all of us who wants to cling to old habits, and is sceptical of yoga and the benefits that it can bring. It manifests as resistance.
In what form does your Monkey Mind appear?
Come prepared to talk about it so we can address it and move forward.
