My Body My Temple – 3 Questions + 3 Solutions

My Yoga practice includes a daily 4:20am online meditation with my colleagues – a gang of amazing Yogis dedicated to the eradication of violence against women and girls worldwide and permanently in our life time.   A few mornings ago we were meeting with our spiritual Teacher, Yogi Akal to discuss modern day slavery.  It’s a challenging conversation as he asks each one of us to be honest about our connection to slavery – what we believe to be true about it and where we see it in our daily lives.  The reality is that the slave trade is more active today than at any other point in history.  Shocking?  Yes.  To learn more about this like Yoga Without Borders on FaceBook.  On this page we share our daily meditations for addressing issues of violence around the world. 

As Yogis we must address own resistance to this topic and develop the mental strength to deal with the issue without becoming paralyzed by our own emotions.  Here is what my Teacher gave us as concepts to reflect on:

  1. What about me?


The solution is the mantra – I am I am

“You are not what you take yourself to be. Find out what you are. Watch the sense ‘I am’, find your real
Self.” Hold on to the sense ‘I am’ tenaciously and in the stillness of your mind – see yourself as you truly are – unbound. 

  1. Am I in control?


The Universe is within you.  Everything that you need and want and hope for is within you already.  Look within and find your essence. 
3.       Am I secure?

The solution – GOD is your security.  GOD is an acronym for the Generating Organizing Delivering mechanism in the Universe.  When you remember GOD – you remember the totality from which we come, that we are connected to and how we connect to each other.
