Our Yoga Story

Our Yoga story is unique just like yours.  Here Salimah’s story of how she came to open YogaVision.

2006

At the end of class, my teacher called me to the front of the room.

“You need to take this more seriously.” She said.

“Who? Me? But, I’m not flexible, I can’t do all these postures.“ Sound familiar? I had a long list of reasons why I couldn’t do it.

She looked me right in the eye and said “Yoga has nothing to do with the postures.”

The vibration of her words surrounded me. When I asked her years later about this conversation, she claims not to remember any part of it and I believe her. As a teacher, you are called on to deliver messages that have nothing to do with who you are as person. That conversation led me to Kundalini Yoga.

Kundalini Yoga is for the Yogi who lives here, now. She (You) bring self realization to a board meeting, conversations with your partner and interaction with your friends and family. Breath, intention, being in service and using the power of the body to create a specific effect. These are the qualities of a well-rounded practice.

2014

In preparation for the birth my son, Vahan, I decided to put my full focus into Yoga and Meditation.  With a sense of purpose and mission, I opened YogaVision Centre in Mississauga with the help of friends and family.  I now see my Yoga practice as more of journey off the mat than on.  Everything I learned in my early days in the practice of Yoga and the teaching of Yoga has helped to establish this vibrant and growing community of Yogis at YogaVision.

Now

At YogaVision Centre – we offer the experience and expertise of masterfully trained teachers.

Each Teacher here is a Yogi in her own right and offers a unique perspective on living in harmony. We believe in the path of Yoga and want what is highest and best for you – to live a divine life with a full understanding of your creative potential. Here’s to you, your family, your community and your yoga story. May we be as One.
