Joy is a form of resistance.
For many midlife women and queer folks, joy has been interrupted. Caregiving, burnout, shame, and survival have taken center stage. We’ve been taught to be productive, to please others, and to be perfect. In that world, joy is often misunderstood as selfish or indulgent.
But Kundalini Yoga offers another way. It helps rewrite the story. Every breath becomes an invitation to feel again. Every mantra becomes a reminder that joy isn’t something to earn—it’s something we remember.
In my classes, I’ve seen people burst into laughter after months of feeling nothing at all. I’ve seen tears of release when someone realizes that joy no longer has to be tied to performance.
This isn’t about forcing happiness. It’s about creating enough space inside the body for the full range of emotion to be welcome. When we feel it all, joy has a place to return.
